We share our site with our sister sanctuary, Proteus Reptile Trust. This charity was set up by our founders in 1991 (many years before Brockswood was born), and continues to run today; dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of sick, injured and unwanted reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates from all over the country.

Proteus frequently take in animals that have been subject to cruelty and neglect, from animals with terrible burns and injuries to those found dumped in bins like unwanted throwaway items! With expert care, veterinary treatment and patience, many of these go on to become healthy, happy animals, ready to find their new forever home! Sadly, some of these animals have simply been through too much, and these will live long-term at the centre, where they can be loved and cared for for the rest of their lives.

Like us, Proteus receives no outside funding and relies on the generous donations of kind people like you to continue to carry out their important work with these, very often overlooked animals. At any one time, they cater for up to 350 reptiles, from tiny geckos to large monitors, from corn snakes to giant pythons and everything in between.

Due to the very busy nature of their work, the Proteus Re-homing Centre is currently open on an appointment basis only. Please get in touch with the Proteus team to book an appointment.
