Pearl joined us on a snowy winter day in 2020. She had been found wandering, lost in the street.

We tried to find her owners in case she had simply escaped from a hutch rather than an abandonment, but had no luck, so we gave her a Forever Home here with us.

She can be quite a feisty girl and likes fuss and attention on her terms! She absolutely loves to dig, is very inquisitive and loves to investigate new things!

Due to her sometimes unpredictable temperament, and occasional nip, we now suspect that she was sadly abandoned by her owners. This is, unfortunately, all too common with rabbits, which are thought to be one of the most neglected species kept commonly as pets. Contrary to popular belief, rabbits do not make good "first" pets and have some very complex needs which must be met in order to keep them happy and healthy. Please think carefully before taking on a pet rabbit!

We found Ebony abandoned on our car park in a carrier very early in the morning in 2021. She had simply been dropped over our locked gates and cast away like a no longer wanted object. She was a little nervous when she first came in (understandably), but soon settled in with lots of love and attention from our team.

Rabbits are social animals and as both she and the lovely Pearl were on their own, we attempted an introduction between them in the hope that they might become friends. Just like people, you can't force animals to become friends, and these introductions aren't always successful but happily, they were very interested in each other, and quickly became the best of friends!

Ebony and Pearl are now almost inseparable, doing everything together, our own Yin and Yang!

We took in Apple and Peach in 2021 when their family asked if we could give them a forever home here at the sanctuary as they could no longer care for them. They are both very friendly and love attention from us!

They are currently separated until Apple has been neutered as we don't want to risk their breeding. While baby animals are lovely, there are presently so many homeless animals in the world in need of sanctuary that we do not breed here at the sanctuary.

You can easily tell them apart by Peach's large "peach"-coloured patches.

Tom and Jerry were sadly abandoned on our car park during one of our busy open days, and we were thankfully able to quickly catch them and get them to safety with the aid of a couple of kind visitors who stepped in to help us! They are both lovely Netherland Dwarf rabbits, and very friendly boys - we can't imagine how anybody could have simply given them up, but they have a safe forever home with us and are settling in very well.
